myOpel App Sends Destination to Nav System from Smartphone

  • Remote programming of onboard navigation system via #myopel #app and OnStar
  • Additional comments and photo enhancements for Vehicle Location function
  • Opel OnStar makes driving more convenient and ensures optimum connectivity via 4G/LTE

Rüsselsheim.  #opel drivers can now conveniently program their car’s onboard navigation system via remote control, without even needing to sit in the vehicle. Using the innovative #opel OnStar personal connectivity and service assistant together with the latest version of the #myopel #app, #opel drivers comfortably enter the destination on their #smartphone or select it from the address book and send it to their car at the push of a button. Separately, they can now add useful comments to the Vehicle Location function, and even a photo, to help them find the car again. In order to avoid parking fines, #myopel users can set a timer to remind them when the parking time expires.

Opel OnStar makes driving more convenient and ensures optimum connectivity. Featuring friendly advisors instead of machines, the #opel OnStar “guardian angel” not only automatically responds to crashes and helps locate stolen vehicles. The unique service also remotely locks or unlocks doors, downloads driving routes directly to the vehicle, sends emails on vehicle health and offers an optional 4G/LTE Wi-Fi hotspot.

“The customer appeal of our #opel OnStar personal connectivity and service assistant just gets stronger and stronger”, says Tina Müller, Chief Marketing Officer of the #opel Group. “With the cool new Send Destination function and the helpful enhancements to Vehicle Location, the #myopel #smartphone #app offers #opel OnStar users more convenience and even higher peace of mind.”

Remote control via the #myopel #app is the most popular feature of #opel OnStar. In addition to sending destinations to the navigation system, #app users can locate the vehicle and lock/unlock the doors from their #smartphone. To help find the car, for example in crowded multi-level parking, #myopel users press a button to honk the horn and flash the lights. They can additionally call up important data such as oil life or tire pressures, and manage the car’s Wi-Fi hotspot, which allows up to seven devices to connect in and around the vehicle (currently available in Germany, the UK, the Netherlands and Spain). #myopel users can also download the owner’s manual for their car to their #smartphone and search for #opel dealers.

Android and iOS #smartphone users can download the #myopel #app from the Google Play Store and the #app Store respectively. #opel OnStar is available on all #opel passenger cars in Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain and Switzerland, and as Vauxhall OnStar in the United Kingdom. An additional 18 countries will follow as of August 2016.
