Official launch of the "pactris" app at the IFA: So-long parcel puzzle: digital loading assistant
One idea follows another in the #smart offensive for improving the quality of urban life: at the International Consumer Electronics Fair (ifa) in Berlin the brand is now presenting the innovative "pactris" #app. During the shopping process this digital loading assistant clarifies whether and how all products and parcels fit in the smart's luggage compartment. After the "smart ready to drop" logistics service, which has just been presented, "pactris" is the second new innovation relating to urban mobility from #smart. The development of the #app was accompanied by the recently established #smart lab, which serves as the brand's think tank for the quick implementation of creative projects.
Everyone knows the problem: after a successful shopping spree you stand at your car despairing about how to get everything to fit into the boot. This is where the new "pactris" #app – the digital loading assistant – will help in future. "pactris" uses a sophisticated algorithm which tells the user whilst shopping whether and how everything will fit in the boot of the #smart.
For this the user scans the bar code on the product – for example in a furniture store – and the #app shows how the packages fit in their #smart. Alternatively, the user can select items from a constantly growing database where typical items are stored. This also shows whether, for example, a drinks crate or a moving box still fit in the fortwo or forfour.
A year ago pactris was the winning idea at "DigitalLife Day", an employee ideas competition organised by Daimler. A year after the idea was born Sebastian Thiemt, Gabriel Selbach, Toni Hoang and their pactris team together with CEO Dr Dieter Zetsche were present at the IFA Berlin on 2 September 2016 for the official launch in the Apple #app Store. With pactris – the digital loading assistant developed in-house together with the #smart lab – Daimler is showing that a start-up is also possible in a large corporation.
