High reliability, increased service intervals

The very good technical characteristics of the new brake fluids allow for significantly increased service intervals for ENV6. Standard DOT4 brake fluids need to be replaced every two years. ENV6, however, features a three-year replacement interval.

Another advantage is the new brake fluid’s downward compatibility for ENV6. It can be used for all brake systems built since 1990 which use typical polyglycol-based brake fluids. Systems working with LHM brake fluids – based on mineral oils - or containing silicones (DOT5) are the only ones excluded.

For increased #safety: lower viscosity, higher wet boiling point

To a large extend, the ESP® reaction times depend on the viscosity of the brake fluid. The lower this value, the shorter the ESP® reaction time. With the new ENV brake fluids, the viscosity was improved by an average of 9 percent in comparison with low-viscosity DOT4 brake fluids – achieving values below 700 mm²/s.

Their high wet boiling point is yet another quality feature. The higher it is, the lower is the risk of formation of vapor bubbles within the brake system – the main cause of brake failure. The new #bosch ENV6 brake fluid features an enhanced wet boiling point of up to 185 degrees Celsius. In consequence ENV6 ensures road users up to 50% more #safety through a lower risk of vapor lock. ENV4 exceeds with 175 degrees Celsius DOT4 standard requirements. Both of these characteristics, i.e. high wet boiling point and low viscosity, improve both #safety and reliability of brake systems. #bosch also illustrates the new brake fluids’ high quality by means of the packaging design: ENV4 and ENV6 form part of the so-called black line representing particularly high-grade products.

Sophisticated tests at the #bosch test center

The experts at the #bosch test center in Abstatt (Germany) subjected the new brake fluids ENV4 and the high-performance version ENV6 to extensive tests making them perfectly suitable for use in current and future ABS and ESP® systems. Sophisticated test procedures like system pressure build-up, wear and noise generation as well as the application under extreme temperature conditions were analyzed putting the new brake fluids under extreme strains. As a result, ENV4 complies with all current standards requested by car manufacturers. ENV6 (ENV for ENVelop) meets all actual standards such as DOT3, DOT4, DOT5.1, ISO Class 6 and the requirements of all major vehicle manufacturers. By using modern driver assistance systems future brake systems will be affected by higher requirements. The new ENV brake fluids support their functionality even today. Additional benefit for workshops: The new #bosch brake fluids are no dangerous substances as specified by the Ordinance on Hazardous Substances.
