Toshiba at CES 2018

Starting with #toshiba Memory Corporation’s own state-of-the-art 64-layer, 3-bit-per-cell TLC (triple-level cell) BiCS FLASH™ and in-house developed SSD controller in a single package, the RC100 was built to offer consumers a viable alternative to pricier high-end NVMe SSDs. In addition to affordability, RC100 SSDs are designed for efficiency, delivering a power-optimized storage solution particularly sought after by mobile users looking to increase battery life.

The RC100 Series offers excellent performance that bridges the gap between SATA 6 gigabits per second and enthusiast-grade NVMe SSDs, ensuring it sits in the ‘sweet spot’ for value-oriented users looking to upgrade to the industry’s latest interface2 and reduce cable clutter. The RC100 also integrates Host Memory Buffer (HMB) technology to deliver up to 1,620 megabytes per second and 1,130MB/s in sequential read/write transfer rates and up to 160,000 and 120,000 random read/write IOPS3, all without requiring onboard DRAM.

“The market has never been more ready for NVMe to go mainstream, but it needs the right product,” said Alex Mei, vice president marketing, consumer SSDs and storage outbound marketing at TMA. “With the ultimate balance of value, size, power, and performance, the RC100 SSD Series makes leveraging all the benefits of NVMe a reality for more users than ever before.”

Ideal for the entire spectrum of mainstream computing – from gaming desktops and notebooks to mini-PCs (NUCs) and everything in between – RC100 modules are offered in a compact M.2 2242 (22x42mm) form factor and available in 120 gigabyte, 240GB and 480GB capacities4. Each RC100 SSD is backed by a 3-year warranty5 to ensure peace of mind.

TMA will showcase the RC100 at its private suites at the Westgate #lasvegas from January 9 – 11, and will participate in Pepcom’s Digital Experience at CES from 7-10:30 p.m. on Monday, January 8.

4 Definition of capacity: #toshiba Memory Corporation defines a gigabyte (GB) as 1,000,000,000 bytes. A #computer operating system, however, reports storage capacity using powers of 2 for the definition of 1GB = 230 bytes = 1,073,741,824 bytes, and therefore shows less storage capacity. Available storage capacity (including examples of various media files) will vary based on file size, formatting, settings, software and operating system, such as Microsoft Operating System and/or pre-installed software applications, or media content. Actual formatted capacity may vary.
