HDMI eARC supported firmware update comes to Sony’s Dolby Atmos soundbars and AV receivers

Sony’s Dolby Atmos® and DTS:X™ supporting soundbar models, HT-ST5000, HT-ZF9 and HT-XF9000, along with Sony’s STR-DN1080 and STR-DH790 AV receiver models will now support eARC with the latest firmware update improving the overall quality, usability and connectivity of home theatre systems.

Uncompromised #audio quality

eARC is essential for achieving the most advanced and highest quality #audio thanks to improvement in bandwidth and speed. The firmware update allows you to enjoy object #audio content that cannot be transmitted with the ARC function such as Dolby #Atmos TrueHD, DTS:X HD Master #audio and multi-channel LPCM. eARC is a part of the HDMI 2.1 specification which includes higher resolutions, faster refresh rates, dynamic HDR, ultra high-speed HDMI cable support and more.This update ensures full compatibility between eARC #audio devices and eARC TVs, such as Sony’s BRAVIA AF9 and ZF9 models.

HT-ZF9 and Amazon Alexa compatibility

Sony’s HT-ZF9 soundbar will also have Amazon Alexa Voice Assistant enabled with this update.[1] Simply say ‘Alexa’ and voice control your HT-ZF9 soundbar to play your favourite songs, adjust the volume and more.

The eARC firmware update is available from 17th October 2018[2] from your local #sony support website.

Currently only available in English, French and German language. Italian and Spanish coming soon.

If the device is connected to the internet it will update automatically OTA. Otherwise, go to your local #sony support website to download the latest firmware and update via USB.
