Team Fordzilla gears-up for new esports series; 1 of 8 teams invited to race in unique format

Ford’s #teamFordzilla #eSports team is gearing up to compete in a brand new #eSports #racing Competition (ERC) for the 2020-21 season, the V 10-R League, hosted by Gfinity and Abu Dhabi Motorsport Management (ADMM).

The global competition uses a unique format not seen in virtual #racing before and is positioned as a talent discovery platform, delivering new faces to a wide motorsport fan base as well as talking directly to the ever-increasing sim #racing community.

Season One starts this month, with the three-driver #teamFordzilla team #racing in the V 10-R League’s custom single-seater race car. The team will pair off against each of the seven other teams over seven matches using the #racing simulator game Assetto Corsa, in a format that includes team #racing, relay #racing and aggregate #racing.

Gfinity has an existing global gaming community of around 11 million users and, along with ADMM, they will create multiple hours of programming per season to meet the growing demand from international broadcasters for digital motorsports.

How the league works

Team Fordzilla will compete against the other seven teams in the league over Season One. Each of the seven matches consists of three rounds with each round taking place on a different track.

Following the conclusion of a match, the number of points a team has won determines the outcome, with a team’s result declared either a win, lose or draw. The points won by each team during the match are then added to their tournament total. After all the teams have played seven matches, the team with the most points wins the League.

Team Fordzilla

Ford launched #teamFordzilla – its first ever #eSports team – in 2019 with individual teams in France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK, consisting of hand-picked racers. Each team competes in national competitions with dedicated team captains, with the best drivers representing #teamFordzilla at a European level. Currently, over 40 drivers race under the #teamFordzilla banner.

In 2019/20 #teamFordzilla entered a European team in the Le Mans #eSports series. It has also launched innovative initiatives including Project P1; a new Ford-designed vehicle for gaming, designed by gamers that will be unveiled at Gamescom 2020.
