EasyCookAsia is a meal kit provider based in Berlin, Germany, whose mission is to make Asian home cooking an easy and accessible experience for one and all.
Back in 2018, the company’s South Korean-born CEO Minchul Lee noticed that many of his friends here had a keen interest in cooking Asian dishes at home, but would struggle to find the right ingredients at Asian supermarkets. For those who rarely cooked Asian food, there was the additional problem of wasting unused ingredients.
This gave him the idea to introduce a service that would address these challenges by bundling ingredients with recipes. Together with CPO Yuri Lee and CTO Cheng-En Yang, they built their first MVP and took part in a startup competition, where they came in second. Today, the three-member startup aims to achieve their mission by delivering an Asian meal kit that has been carefully curated with high-quality ingredients and easy-to-follow recipes of the featured theme with stories.
The team is driven by a belief that food is more than just food, which is why they also bring across fascinating stories about Asian dining culture through a Culture Guide that comes in each story box. Starting with the Lunar new year box in January 2020, a different Culture Cook box will be released each month with the theme they design like Curry, Olympics, Mid-autumn Festival and Christmas in the pipeline.
