Central access to protected vehicle data via Bosch Secure Diagnostic Access (SDA) - Integrated and standardized solution for vehicles with protected vehicle electronic system via Esitronic 2.0 Online diagnostic software

  • Faster and straightforward access to protected vehicle diagnostic data via Secure Diagnostic Access
  • Secure Diagnostic Access bundles the different and individual solutions of participating vehicle manufacturers
  • New function ensures the competitiveness of multi-brand workshops by cost and time efficiency

Karlsruhe/Plochingen –To protect the vehicle electronic system of recent vehicle models, numerous manufacturers already use individual solutions with different access requirements and concepts. This disorganized situation poses a great technical and administrative challenge for automotive workshops, in particular for independent multi-brand workshops. Bosch thus developed Secure Diagnostic Access (SDA), a central, integrated and standardized solution allowing straightforward access to protected vehicle data of different vehicle manufacturers. At a first stage, SDA shall provide access to VW, Audi, SEAT and Škoda vehicles. As additional vehicle manufacturers protect their vehicles against unauthorized access, the SDA coverage will be expanded continuously. For this purpose, Bosch is in close contact with the individual vehicle manufacturers in order to include additional manufacturer solutions into SDA in a timely manner thus offering automotive workshops the best possible coverage.

SDA allows workshops to continue performing comprehensive diagnoses on vehicles with protected diagnostic data easily and without any restrictions. As of summer 2021, the new function will be available and part of Bosch Esitronic 2.0 Online diagnostic software. Once registered, each workshop employee gets a personal access allowing him or her to access and use diagnostic features with restricted access via SDA and in a straightforward manner.

Bosch ID for straightforward access to protected diagnostic contents

Without access to protected diagnostic functions, workshops can often only perform passive diagnostic activities such as reading out error codes. Active diagnostic work such as the calibration of driver assistance systems might not be possible anymore in some circumstances. Even resetting the service intervals might not be possible anymore. In order to perform these tasks, the manufacturers’ individual solutions often require a paid access. The standardized Bosch Secure Diagnostic Access solution eases this process. Workshops do not need to get along with different manufacturer portals, register, sign up and keep an eye on different payment methods. SDA bundles the individual solutions of the vehicle manufacturers and is part of control unit diagnoses of Bosch Esitronic 2.0 Online diagnostic software. Authorized by means of their Bosch ID within Esitronic, users get central and integrated access to protected diagnostic contents despite the individual security solutions of the different vehicle manufacturers. To get his/her personal Bosch ID, members of the workshop staff just have to register once. Afterwards, they can use their personal Bosch ID for different purposes. On one hand, of course, to access protected diagnostic contents via Esitronic. On the other hand, for a variety of other Bosch applications – both professional and private ones such as e.g. for e-bikes and smart home applications. Another advantage of the Bosch ID: As of November 2021, it can also be used to book technical trainings at the Bosch Service Training Centers. Besides the creation of the Bosch ID, an online user identification may be required during the registration process. As is the case when opening an online bank account, an external service provider will therefore perform an online identification with the aid of the identification document.

Using SDA, workshops don’t even need to care for billing and costs. Bosch Secure Diagnostic Access practically offers a flat rate. The costs for using protected diagnostic data are already included within the license fees for control unit diagnoses (SD).

Using SDA, multi-brand workshops stay competitive

Gaining access to diagnostic contents with restricted access of different makes via Bosch Secure Diagnostic Access, workshops save time and money thus increasing the efficiency of diagnoses. Especially multi-brand workshops ensure their competitiveness using SDA as they are thus able to continue performing comprehensive diagnoses on different vehicles in a time-saving and efficient manner. A prerequisite for the use of Bosch Secure Diagnotic Access is Esitronic 2.0 Online diagnostic software and a valid license for control unit diagnoses (SD) as well as a stable internet connection. Moreover, a diagnostic tester of the current Bosch KTS generation – such as KTS 560, KTS 590, KTS 350 or KTS 250 – is also required.
