MUMM connected bottle

When Georges Hermann Mumm bought his first plots in Verzenay in 1840, he was taking the first steps in the creation of winemaking in a village dominated by pinot noir. As Maison Mumm expanded over the years, it acquired plots on all the historic Champagne terroirs and today, the Mumm vineyard is exceptional. The Maison’s 218 hectares, including 160 hectares of grands crus, are located in eight historic villages that express the full authenticity of the Champagne terroir – Aÿ, Bouzy, Ambonnay, Verzy, Verzenay, Mailly, Avize and Cramant. It is Mumm’s presence in this winemaking domain and its long-standing and loyal relationships with its grape growers that allows the champagne house to remain true to its style and express it consistently, year after year. Since the beginning, Maison Mumm’s founders gave the house its guiding mantra of “Only the Best”. Mumm has constantly dared to push the boundaries to meet the expectations of their founders. Through constant innovation the House has pioneered a series of ground-breaking industry firsts to ensure its champagne is of the finest quality. A PASSION TO CELEBRATE VICTORY The ‘red sash’, the ultimate mark of respect Alongside this quest to create first class wine Georges Mumm also set out to celebrate victory across the world. He chose to give his bottles the ultimate mark of respect by adorning them with the ‘red sash’ which represents the highest civilian award in France, the ‘Legion d’Honneur’. Mumm is a proud partner with those who dare to go beyond, and who push limits to achieve firsts – from explorers and adventurers, to challengers and sportsmen. Throughout its rich history and into the future Mumm’s iconic Jeroboam with its red sash makes its journey from the vineyards to celebratory moments of victory around the world. As long ago as 1904, Mumm supported Jean-Baptiste Charcot during the first French Antarctic expedition. This victorious moment was captured by a photograph of the explorer on the ice cap celebrating with a bottle of Mumm Cordon Rouge. Today this quest to celebrate firsts is seen by billions across the world through Mumm’s long-standing partnership with Formula One®. Founded on the mutual belief that a victory achieved through daring passion and commitment is all the more thrilling, this partnership is the biggest champagne sponsorship in the sporting world. For the last 15 years the world’s fastest drivers have been awarded with jeroboams of Mumm’s famous Cordon Rouge on podiums around the globe, firmly establishing Mumm as a true icon of victory. This iconic celebratory champagne spray is the ultimate expression of celebrating victory; it is a tribute to the driver’s daring, the absolute precision of their team, and the quest for perfection that drives them to excel. It is a tradition that began almost 50 years ago. THE RITUAL OF THE VICTORIOUS CHAMPAGNE SPRAY The tradition of the celebratory champagne spray on the Formula One® winner’s podium began in 1966. The bottle was warm when the winner of the Le Mans 24 hour race, Jo Siffert, climbed onto the podium and the cork popped out unexpectedly with the pressure, spraying a fine shower over the delighted audience below. The following year Dan Gurney, winner of the same race, deliberately repeated Siffert’s gesture. It was swiftly adopted by all motor racing champions, with Formula One® winners making this celebratory spray famous in the world of motor racing. Jackie Stewart receiving a magnum of Cordon Rouge on the podium at the Italian Grand Prix in Monza; Ascari’s dip in the Monaco marina; Senna and Prost’s legendary rivalry; Schumacher’s era of supremacy – each victory since that original ‘champagne moment’ has been marked with this same timeless ritual of celebration. Mumm is proud to be at the heart of this, the world’s most iconic moment of victory, which is watched by more than 2 billion viewers across the globe. PUSH THE LIMITS MUMM LAUNCHES AN INNOVATION TO PUSH THE LIMITS OF THE CELEBRATION EXPERIENCE Introducing The World’s First Connected Champagne Bottle Today Maison Mumm’s commitment to innovation and celebrating firsts goes even further beyond its champagne making and partnership with Formula One®. It is enriched by every aspect of the House, including its partnerships with international innovators and pioneers whose vision is shaping our future. On the eve of the Monaco Grand Prix Maison Mumm hosted a private event with international musician Mark Ronson to launch another world first – the first digitally connected champagne bottle. Inspired by the thrill of the Formula One® podium moment, Mumm’s “connected magnum” brings this indescribable emotion into prestigious nightclubs, enhancing the champagne celebration experience around the world. As the cork is popped from the bottle an interactive experience is triggered in the venue, creating a multi-sensory experience that amplifies the moment of celebration. Mumm’s relationship with Mark Ronson was founded on a shared quest to enhance the night life experience, and Mumm is proud to launch this innovation with an artist who continues to push limits to shape the future of the music industry. Together, Mumm and Ronson have brought a world class first to life; they have created a moment in history which expresses Mumm’s time-honoured dedication to dare, to win, and ultimately to celebrate.
