Siemens Digital Industries Software extends its Simcenter/Xcelerator portfolio to include new enhanced electromagnetic-vibro-acoustic analysis functions. The new releases of Simcenter Magnet and Simcenter Motorsolve provide a seamless solution for the optimization of noise and vibration development for electric traction motors. This includes for example a wide range of options for the integration of real-world conditions into simulations. The Xcelerator portfolio is helping automotive companies to significantly accelerate the development and innovation process for their vehicles.

With the new releases of Magnet and Motorsolve, electric motor design and electromagnetic fields can be simulated at any stage of the development process. The motors must be durable and compliant in terms of NVH (Noise, Vibration, Harshness). However, electromagnetic forces and vibrations have an adverse effect. These interference factors must be eliminated as far as possible in order to protect the motor. Using #siemens software solutions, developers can calculate and examine the effects of these forces and vibrations on each individual component and test the material integrity under various operating conditions. A digital twin of electric and hybrid powertrains can be created.

Comprehensive portfolio for optimal design process

The #siemens solution offers numerous functions that provide design engineers with the ideal range of analysis and design options. For example, the Simcenter Motorsolve software uses smart 2.5D technology to generate a 3D nodal force mesh model based on 2D simulations. The forces that actually act on individual components can be determined using Magnet software. In addition, for higher-resolution finite element simulations, Simcenter Speed PC-BDC (synchronous machines) models can be seamlessly imported into Motorsolve software. The new releases of Motorsolve and Magnet software provide engineers with a portfolio that can be used to develop even complex structures and systems quickly and efficiently. “Our Simcenter Magnet and Simcenter Motorsolve solution addresses the key challenges electric motor designers face for NVH compliance,” explains Roland Feldhinkel, Vice President Simulation and Test Solutions at #siemens Digital Industries Software. “The new functionality in our latest release can quickly identify design problems so our customers can develop high-performance products with greater productivity.”
