Ideum Donates Touch Display System to Atrisco Heritage Academy High School

The system will support the school’s new STEAM Lab
When Atrisco Heritage Academy High School reached out to #ideum to let us know they were planning to develop a STEAM Lab—a space for students to explore science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics—we were excited at the opportunity to support the effort. The school’s Technology Coordinator offered a range of ideas for using #ideum hardware in this space. For example, software such as Sketchup could allow Algebra II students to create 3D models; students in English and Social Studies classes could undertake thought mapping and creative group exercises in groups; students could also explore digital dissections, math games, and visual explorations of astronomical objects. Students could even create their own touch applications. These and other ideas could be effective learning experiences when presented on a large format touch screen.
Last week, as part of our Technology for our Community Program, we delivered a donation of a 55” Ideum Presenter touch display with a SmartLift motorized stand. The unit can be moved easily between classrooms and the screen height and angle can be adjusted as needed, allowing the school to experiment with different locations and uses.
Of course, due to the Covid-19 crisis, there is still considerable uncertainty about how school will actually work in the upcoming academic year—but we are optimistic that Atrisco students will soon be engaging with this hardware and learning more about STEAM topics in creative and innovative ways. We are excited to watch Atrisco’s STEAM Lab grow and evolve into something very special!
This donation was set in motion before the pandemic changed much of the way we work and operate. At this time, we are prioritizing donations to first responders, government agencies, municipalities, health and medical organizations, and other essential businesses in New Mexico.
