Don of the Dead, Malice in Wonderland, and Baits Motel Are Just a Few of the Frighteningly Funny Cases That Await

New York, NY (August 10, 2021) - Atari® — one of the world's most iconic consumer brands and interactive #entertainment producers — today announced the launch of the popular Darkside Detective point-and-click adventure series on the all-new Atari VCSTM videogame #computer system. The Darkside Detective and The Darkside Detective: A Fumble in the Dark from Akupara Games are now available on the #atari VCS Store, inviting players and would- be detectives to take on all manner of macabre mysteries in the misfortune- prone community of Twin Lakes — otherwise known as America's 34th most haunted city.

It's a city unlike any other; Twin Lakes is crawling with twisted crime and chilling cases, each more demented than the last. Join Darkside Division detectives Francis McQueen and his partner Officer Patrick Dooley as they take the Darkside head-on in an effort to get back to doing what they do best — investigating the city's many strange, often paranormal, and always paradoxical goings-on. Flesh-hungry tentacles, mafioso zombies, and the occasional missing sock are no match for the Darkside Detective, Francis McQueen. He's always there...you may not see him...but you might smell something fishy...which could be him. Or not, but probably.

Both The Darkside Detective and The Darkside Detective: A Fumble in the Dark feature-rich storytelling, eye-roll-worthy punchlines, and a touch of spine- tingling self-aware humor. Regarded by Kotaku as "the best point-and-click adventure of all time," The Darkside Detective series plays on history's most esteemed horror-mystery stories and leans into everyone's favorite corny detective tropes. Trench coats are a must. As is the term "Groovy."

Key Game Features Include:

  • 15 unique standalone cases between both games
  • Pointing AND clicking technology

  • At least six jokes
